So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 1 Corinthians 3:7
We know that God chooses to use us for His purpose, but who is the one that makes things grow? Of course, God is. This shows us that no matter what we do, God is the one that makes things happen. He does the miracles, He heals, He redeems. We may plant the seed, we may water it, but God is the one that brings transformation.
This is something that we need to keep in mind. It isn’t our job to make the plant grow. We need to remember what our role is in God’s story. He doesn’t have to, but out of His love for us, He chooses to use us as vessels for His will.
If we are led by the Spirit and step out in obedience, He will do the heavy lifting. We shouldn’t be worried about the human outcome (numbers of attendance, converting etc…). Instead, we should be focused on stepping out in obedience where the Spirit leads.
Whether it’s in your workplace, at home or while running errands, be led by the Spirit and remember that we are the one who plants or waters and not the one who makes things grow. It’s about obedience, not human results!
