On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. Acts 1:4
This is one of the last things Jesus said before ascending into Heaven. What is the gift what had the disciples been promised? The Holy Spirit. Jesus told the disciples to stay, to not leave Jerusalem until they received the Spirit. If the disciples were to leave before they would have received the Holy Spirit, you wouldn’t be reading this right now because the task of spreading the Gospel to all ends of the earth wouldn’t have been accomplished. The disciples couldn’t have accomplished the ministry they were called to in the book of Acts without the Holy Spirit. The church cannot survive without the Spirit of God.
For us to accomplish what God has called us to, we need the empowerment of the Spirit of God. It is and will always be impossible to accomplish the calling on our life without the presence of God. When people try to walk out their calling without the Spirit, we see a trail of brokenness and failure. Soon that person’s brokenness will arise and they will fail to accomplish the task.
Only by the Spirit do we see transformation and healing. God calls us to the impossible. We can only accomplish that by the empowerment of His Spirit.
Seek His presence, Seek His Spirit, Seek His Empowerment. Remember to rely fully on Him.
