Have you ever thought of light and dark? The concept of turning on the lights in a room, and how it eliminates the darkness? I think it’s profound that darkness is just the absence of light.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Jesus tells us that He is the light of the world and that when we follow Him we will never walk in darkness. We have been found and will never again be lost or in darkness. This is an amazing reassurance that we are loved by the creator of the universe and that no matter what, He never leaves our side.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
Because we have the Holy Spirit in us, we are told that we are the light of the world. We are told to go and let our light shine before others so they see what we do and glorify God. We have what the world needs, we have hope, and that hope is Jesus. Let’s let our light shine today. Let’s show the world that there is hope in Jesus. Let’s show the world that God loves them!
