Let’s be honest, our life is busy, we have more things to do than we have time. We often get lost in our tasks and the product of that is late nights and early mornings. Because of this, we forget that we need to rest and pause. We feel as though we don’t have the time to do this. Although we feel like we don’t have time to rest, we need to make time, we’re commanded to rest in the Lord.
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[e] just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. Hebrews 4:9-10
The Sabbath is a time of rest, a time where we completely rest in the Lord. God leads us by example in this by resting on the seventh day of creation.
Rest is needed to flourish as God has intended us to and if we want to walk out what our calling is, this is a necessity. When we make time for rest, we shouldn’t wait until we are tired. When we make rest a priority and a regular discipline, we will see ourselves beginning to be able to handle our schedule and tasks. Let’s rest because it’s beneficial and it’s what God’s desire is. Take some time out of your day today to sit, pray and worship. Create a time to disconnect from everything else and connect to God.
